Galileo Space Probe Deployment

The Galileo Space Probe is deployed from the cargo bay of the space shuttle Atlantis to begin its journey to the planet Jupiter on October 18, 1989. The Galileo Space Probe arrived at Jupiter on December 7, 1995, a little over six years after its launch, via gravitational assist flybys of Venus and Earth.
